Your new year parent app checklist

Parent communication school app checklist

Now that the sunshine has gone and it feels like summer is over it feels like we should be focusing on the new school year hear at apps for schools.

We are now helping many schools prepare their parent communication apps for the new starters arriving in September, making sure the app is ready to deceiver the info they need.

So I thought it would be worth posting a short checklist of things to complete in the app to get ready:

  1. Manage user groups
If your App is linked to your Management Information System then you don’t need to worry about this. But if your parents are registering in your app then you may need to update your year groups.

  2. Send out a push to non registered users
The start of the year is a great time to remind your parents that they need to register to get the most out of the app. Simply sending a push out to your non registered users could give them the incentive they need.

  3. Block or remove your leavers
Depending on the content of your app you might want to consider blocking or removing any parents or students in the final year. Or why not tag them in a leavers group and keep them updated with general news?

  4. New starter information
Your app is there and a parent communication channel, so make sure you clearly post your new starter information front and centre, this can be removed or hidden ready for next year in a few weeks.

  5. Promote, Promote, Promote
A parent communication app is hands down the best way to keep parents informed about the school, but only if they know it is there. So the start of the new school year is a great time to let people know.

Any others? let me know and I will include them here.
