Where to find an endless source of creativity

Hedgehog street app

We are currently developing our latest commission: a hedgehog app for PTES.

At the same time, Schools are the most indefatigably creative organisations, and it’s always rewarding to work with them to develop clever new apps.

Our customers recognise the efficiency with which our apps handle their administrative systems. This helps them realise ways to improve other day-to-day aspects of school life specific to their own institution.

We have received a broad range of requests for app development, including apps to help with learning, monitoring students’ health and wellbeing, and even increasing freedom and autonomy for students and staff. Our apps are always built from the ground up, but it always promises to be an interesting task to integrate a bespoke request.

You may have read about some of these elsewhere on our website, such as the app extension that allows sixth form students to register themselves as present or absent, using the student’s phone GPS signal to register them in a specific area of the school.

We have also made developments for extra-curricular work: one school in Doncaster assigns twenty ‘tasks’ a year to each student, such as finding particular objects or animals, or designing and making something. After the student has completed the task, they upload a photograph to the app to display their work, and earn points.
Health and wellbeing of students is, of course, a priority for all schools. One school asked us to create a wellbeing app to help their eczema sufferers. The app tracked the progression of their students’ health and helped them to remember to apply treatment. The data would also be displayed as a graph, so that the child could see the causality between application of treatment, eating well, and the progression of the healing process.
The process of consultation and development of a new app is always an interesting story. Making the idea into a reality is always possible. Contact Peter@ideafarm.co.uk or ring 01625 572922 for a no-obligation discussion.
